Asparagus Appetizer – Easy And Light Side-Dish

Recently, while visiting a friend of mine, she served one very easy and extremely delicious appetizer, ideal to have as a starter, side dish or just enjoy it with a glass of wine (or cider in my case) – Asparagus Appetizer.

I thought, because the Easter holidays have just finished and maybe most of us had a lot to eat, I would present you that recipe – a light recipe that you can make really quickly and is really, really extra scrumptious to have with your loved ones.

I hope you’ve had a beautiful time during the holidays and I hope you find the time to try this recipe.

Asparagus Appetizer

  • 10-12 asparagus stems and/or tender-stem broccoli

  • 250gr puff pastry

  • 10 bacon rashers

  • salt and black pepper

  • 1 egg, beaten

  1. Cut the bacon rashers and ready-rolled puff pastry in long lines, not too thick

  2. Line a baking tray with grease-proof paper

  3. Take one asparagus stem and wrap one bacon strip, leaving some space between every twist. Take a puff pastry strip and wrap it around the asparagus in the spaces you left while wrapping the bacon. Continue until you have all the stems done this way

  4. Put the wrapped asparagus in the baking tray. Using a cake brush wash every asparagus with the beaten egg, season with salt and black pepper

  5. Bake at 180-200°C for 20 minutes or until golden in colour

Have a lovely and relaxing day. Enjoy!
