Cheese Crisps – Make These Nibbles Healthy And Enjoy

My little ones just love chips/crisps. It is very difficult to make them not have, even a little bit, when they see a packet of crisps, usually when we are at the grocery store.

The other day I was going through different food articles that were talking about how to make unhealthy food healthier or at least not so bad for our body. That is a good idea and that is why I started thinking how to make chips/crisps without all the added salt and fat, just at least a little bit more nutritional.

Probably all of you have heard and maybe even tried chips made from different vegetables, other than potatoes – aubergine, beetroot, sweet potato, carrot, etc. I admit I eat those from time to time, but let say it – they don’t taste like the original.

Unfortunately, almost nothing will taste like the unhealthy bag of crisps.

Today I am inviting you to try and make some chips/crisps or call it crackers from cheese. Trust me – they would look like crisps, will be salty (not too much) and would be extremely delicious to nibble.

The recipe is very simple and quick, takes just a few minutes to make. It is a recipe I would recommend to anyone who loves chips/crisps, but would prefer them in a healthier way.

I made my crisps by using grated cheddar cheese, mainly because that was what I had at home that day and, also, because my little ones just adore it. I am sure you can use other kinds of cheese as well, try the four cheese mix or the mixed cheeses for better taste.

If you have tried preparing those crisps before, I would love to hear your opinion whether you added something else as well – different condiments for added flavours. Just leave a comment below.

Cheese Crisps

Ingredients:

  • 100gr cheddar cheese, grated

  • sheet of parchment paper

You can use as much cheese as you want, just make sure to lay it evenly on the parchment paper to be baked equally.

Preparation:

  1. Heat the oven at 200°C

  2. Line a tray with the parchment paper and spread the grated cheddar cheese evenly

  3. Place the tray in the oven and bake for 7-10 minutes, until the edges start to get crispy

  4. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely

  5. Using the scissors, cut the cheese in pieces (as large as you wish) while still on the parchment paper. Remove the parchment paper from each slice and arrange on a plate

Enjoy by itself or with your favourite dip!
