Easy Dinner Or Snack – Mince Sandwiches

Now that we are getting ready for our kids to start another school year, I know everyone is quite busy and maybe cooking a delicious snack or meal is the last thing on your mind. That is why today I suggest you try one very easy to make baked in the oven sandwiches with mince that are traditional for my country, every mum has made them millions and millions of times. We call them Princess sandwiches, I don’t know why, maybe because they are so yummy.

These sandwiches are really easy to make and take only a few minutes to bake. Use them as a hot breakfast, as a yummy snack or just a light dinner (preferred option in my family). You don’t need a lot of ingredients and everyone loves sandwiches.

Below see the recipe how to make these sandwiches that my mum used to make. It’s the way I am used to having them. The difference is from the way my grandma made the sandwiches is – my mum used to mix the mince with some milk so that to make the sandwich topping really delicate and smooth in texture. Yum!

Hope you give them a try!

Mince Sandwiches

  • 5 slices of bread

  • 50gr soft butter, to spread thin on the bread

  • 150-200gr mince

I personally use a mix of pork and beef ground meat, but you use the one you prefer.

  • 100gr grated cheddar cheese

  • 150ml milk

  • salt, pepper and parsley

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix the mince with the cheese, milk and seasoning. Using your hands knead the ingredients until well mixed

  2. Butter the slices of bread and arrange in a baking tray

  3. Divide the mince mixture between the slices of bread and cover them all

  4. Bake in the oven at 190-200°C for 10-15 minutes, until golden and baked

Serve hot, with tomato slices on top or fresh salad.

It’s an easy breakfast or yummy dinner you can make in no time. If you have any suggestions or recommendations or want to share your favourite toppings for hot sandwiches, just leave a comment below.
