Easy To Make Dinner That Everyone Would Love – Chicken With New Potatoes And Chorizo

I should confess that I love watching cooking programs on television, different celebrity chefs making cooking look very easy and incredibly delicious. But, up to this moment, I have never tried any of the recipes the famous chefs share with us, because I have always thought that they should be very difficult if they do them.

Tonight I tried one recipe, presented by Nigella Lawson, and I have to say it was easy to make it and the result was yummy.

I chose this recipe, because my children and I love chicken (that meat is our favourite) and I had some chorizo left, so I needed something that could combine these both ingredients. See what you can make with them:

Chicken with New Potatoes and ChorizoChicken with new potatoes and chorizo

Ingredients (makes 6 servings):

  • 1-1.5kg new potatoes

  • 6 chicken thighs

  • 2 onions

  • seasoning – oregano, basil, red pepper, rosemary, parsley (as much as you like and love)

  • 600-700 gr chorizo, cut in pieces

  • ½ cup orange juice and zest of 1 orange

  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil

  1. In your baking tray put the olive oil, add the chicken and rub in it

  2. Add the chorizo and vegetables (potatoes and onions, cut in wedges) to the tray, sprinkle the seasoning

  3. Mix all the ingredients well and pour the orange juice

  4. Pre-heat the oven to 200°-220°C and cook for 30 minutes, baste the chicken and potatoes with the juices, then bake for another 30-40 minutes

Serve it with fresh salad and, if you want and have time and energy for it, home-made bread (yum)!

    Hi Ellie

I love this recipe ’cause it’s so quick n easy to make following the recipe but also the low-cost factor to feed a family.

The New ‘taters are a much healthier option than say, deep fried chips and the salad, much like greek style will give the kids a break from the salty, fatty stuff.

Love the idea with Orange Juice, never done this, but will now as I’m looking forward to trying this over succulent chicken.

Thanks Ellie for showing me how to make a much leaner, tasty chicken n’ salad style meal. It won’t cost me much when I nip into the local Sainsbury’s, and I can knock it up quick & easy and be pleasingly assured it’s good for the kids.

    Take care now,

Hi Pete, hope your kids like it 🙂

I love chicken and new potatoes, because you can make a lot with not so many ingredients.

When you go to Sainsburys, you can make the recipe with their family-sized cans of new potatoes. This way the recipe would be ready in no time. Just make sure you don’t let the meal stay too long after preparing, because the chorizo may get really hard (be sure the sausage is covered with juices while cooking).

You say you love chicken recipes. Please share with me some of your family’s favourite ones. I also cook with chicken a lot, we just love it.

      All the best!

Hi again Ellie, Thanks for the tip about the Family sized cans!

        All the very best

  2. Rodney

    Hi Ellie,

I too love watching the cooking programs on TV. I also love cooking. The Chicken with New Potatoes recipe looks easy to prepare. As far as the ingredients are concerned, what kind of onion would you recommend for this dish. I am definitely going to try this recipe. Thanks again.

    1. Ellie

Hello Rodney, about the onions – I used white onion when I prepared this recipe, but I think red onion would go as well, because of its sweetness.

I like the combination of chicken with potatoes, but the chorizo brings some saltiness and seasoning 🙂

You said you like watching cooking programs on TV. Have you tried any recipes they expired you to make?

      All the best

Thank you for your comments and encouragement. I am still learning how to run a site, but I do love cooking and with little kids at home I do it regularly.

I would continue to share recipes that my family enjoyed, especially those that are easy to prepare. And I hope everyone would find something they like.
