I like baking and I like preparing warm home-made bread for my family. I think the smell of the bread just taken out of the oven is so inviting that even if you are not feeling hungry right now you would still want at least to try it.
Today I want to present to you one of my favourite recipes for bread I use maybe most often. I saw this recipe in one of the grocery supermarket’s cooking magazines and I have never regretted giving it a go.
If you like home-made bread or just love soda bread, I would say you make this bread today.
I know, soda bread might not be everyone’s cup of tea, mainly because it is harder than most breads, but still I think it is delicious and goes well with different meals.
I even use it as the basis to make another dish with it, by stuffing it with different yummy pieces of meat, vegetables and/or cheeses. See this recipe here.
I wanted to share with you one of my most preferred recipes for making bread at home. I think this recipe is very easy, it doesn’t take a lot of time (as this bread does not need proving) and is very tasty.
Decide if you want to enjoy it as well.
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
1tsp caster sugar
300gr plain yogurt
In a mixing bowl, sift the flour with the salt, sugar and bicarbonate of soda
Mix the plain yoghurt with the milk, stir to blend
Add the yoghurt mixture to the flour and using a spoon mix until you make the dough, it should be not sticky
Using your hands (you may need to flour them) make a dough ball. Add a 1-2tbsp milk, if needed to make the dough soft
Line a baking tray with grease-proof paper, put the dough and shape it
Using a sharp knife cut lines on top of the loaf
Heat the oven at 190-200°C and bake the bread for 30 minutes or until ready
Serve with your main meal or together with the appetizers.
I am sure that if you decide to make some home-made bread today, you and your loved ones would enjoy it very much. It’s delicious and inviting to have just one more bite at least.
