Make Cheat Cinnamon Rolls – Easy, Quick And Delicious

I like cinnamon rolls, but I find them not so easy to make. You can’t make them quickly and easily to enjoy with the people you love and sometimes the mixing of the pastry goes wrong and they do not taste so lovely any more.

Today, I am presenting my cheat cinnamon rolls that I made for my loved ones. I used puff pastry, butter, sugar and cinnamon. I even added some soft raisins to add texture and flavour.

This recipe is super easy to make, very quick and is a nice breakfast to have on any day, during the week or on the weekends.

I, personally, brushed the pastry with the butter and just sprinkled the rest of the ingredients on top this time. Other times, I would make something like a cinnamon paste and spread it on the pastry. Do it the way you prefer. To make the cinnamon paste you would need the same ingredients – melted butter, sugar and cinnamon, just combine them before they go on the pastry. Also, you may need more ingredients to make the cinnamon paste so that to make enough to cover the whole pastry sheet.

You can also use brown sugar and other ingredients that you like – nuts, dried fruit, raisins, etc. I think the end result may not exactly look like the original cinnamon rolls, mainly because we are using a different pastry, but tastes extremely delicious.

Cheat Cinnamon Rolls   

Ingredients:

  • 1 ready-rolled puff pastry, about 400gr

  • 50gr melted butter

  • 60-100gr sugar

  • 1tbsp cinnamon

  • raisins and nuts to sprinkle (optional)

  • 1 egg yolk, for egg wash

For the topping:

  • 2tbsp icing sugar

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • 1tsp water

Add more icing sugar and/or water to get the desired consistency.

Preparation:

  1. In a plate, add the sugar and cinnamon together, mix well

  2. Roll the ready-rolled puff pastry and place on a grease-proof paper

  3. Brush the pastry with the melted butter, add the sugar and cinnamon mixture covering the whole of the pastry, sprinkle raisins and nuts if using

  4. Using the grease-proof paper roll the pastry to a tight roll, roll on its long side. Leave the roll in the fridge for 20 minutes 

  5. Line the baking tray with grease-proof paper, cut circles from the roll between every 1,5cm, place them in the baking tray, egg wash them and bake at 180-190°C for 20 minutes or until golden baked

Leave to cool a bit and you can add the white topping made of mixing icing sugar, water, vanilla.

Serve and enjoy!
