Struggle To Make The Vegetables Appealing To Eat? Try This Yummy Cheat Pizza

My little ones love vegetables baked with cheese, so last night I decided to treat them all by preparing an easy dinner for the whole family while playing with them, reading stories and having a nice family time. The meal involved all that we love – pastry, cheese, vegetables 🙂

I try to serve vegetables as often as possible – either in a salad, or in the prepared meal so that everybody at home to learn to love them and really enjoy the dishes.

Here is my suggestion how to make vegetables even more yummy than they usually are. I call it – cheat pizza as it has all the main ingredients of a pizza, but I think is more delicious and, hopefully, a little bit healthier:

Vegetable Tart with Cheese image


1 packet puff pastry

200gr cheddar cheese, grated

200gr cherry tomatoes

1 cup milk

3 eggs

salt, pepper, parsley

Preparation in 4-easy steps:

  1. Line a tray (I usually use a cake tin) with flattened puff pastry, leave an edge to stick to the form and make it look beautiful

  2. Cover it with the grated cheddar cheese and arrange the sliced in half cherry tomatoes

I sometimes line the puff pastry with ham or pepperoni before putting the cheese and tomatoes, try it like that as well.

  1. Beat the eggs and mix with the milk, add the condiments. Pour in the baking mould

  2. Bake in a heated to 200-220°C oven for 40-45min

    May I know, can I use other type of cheese other than cheddar. I like mozzarella and parmesan, will I get similar result?

    Also, do you think this recipe will work for other vegetables? Maybe some vegies with high water content will not work..?

      Hi, you can add any cheese you like, but I would definitely suggest to keep some of the cheddar (for density and taste).

      Try adding different vegetables – peppers, courgettes, mushrooms, green beans, corn, etc. Tell me what you liked best.

    Wow, this sounds really good! And very quick to prepare, that’s always a favorite with me. I think one could add a variety of vegetables. This recipe is on my list for dinner tomorrow night and I will bookmark the website for future ideas. Do you think it would freeze well?

      Hi, Deborah. I have never tried freezing this dish as it disappears very quickly, but I will not recommend it. We use eggs in the preparation and eggs become like a porridge when they’ve been frozen.

      I believe everyone can make this recipe their own just by adding the ingredients (vegetables, meat, cheese) they like. Enjoy. All the best

    This does look yummy, but more like a quiche than a pizza. I guess adding some onions should also make it quite nice.

      Thank you for your comments. I agree that it looks more like a quiche, but I call it pizza for my little ones 🙂

      I like your idea about adding onion, maybe browning and softening them in a little oil before adding them to the bake tray.

      I like it when you find a recipe and make it different every time – by adding something new (vegetables, meat, etc.)
