Do you like smoothies and shakes? What about creamed soups? Do you prepare mayonnaise at home? What appliance did you use to make those so important baby meals when weaning?

For all of those things and much more I am using a kitchen blender – one very useful gadget that I would never banish from our kitchen.

Wikipedia defines the blender as a kitchen appliance used to mix, purée, or emulsify food and other substances.

Of course, different blenders you can find on the market come more or less with different functions, but as a whole it is an appliance that you could put in use for different things and always have quickly and easily the desired result. I most often use the kitchen blender to crush ice; purée food; chop vegetables in a very small pieces (for baby food or cooking); grind nuts and spices; make shakes, cocktails, dressings and marinades for meat, etc.

See my review below of the blender I am using and make your life easier when cooking.

VonShef 4 in 1 Multifunctional Blender is an appliance that every household needs, it doesn’t matter if you are cooking only for yourself or for a whole army, including small children or babies. It would help you prepare meals really easy, saving you time and a lot of nerves (like when chopping vegetables or nuts) and would leave you enough time to enjoy the dishes together with the people you love.

  • 4 in 1 appliance – blender, smoothie maker, grinder and juicer

  • Two speed settings and pulse function – makes sure you always get the perfect results

  • Has multiple containers for easy storage

  • Very easy to clean

  • Widely available

  • Comes with a recipe book to start you off

  • When using it, put it on a flat surface as it tends to move

  • Always be careful when using such an appliance as it has blades in it and can be dangerous

  • As the blender doesn’t require the lid to be put on it to start working, always take precautions so that to avoid any messy surprises – make sure the lid is on

I guess everyone has used a blender at least once when preparing something for the people you love. Well, I use my blender a lot, almost every day, sometimes more than once per day.

I’ve used it to:

  • cut different vegetables to really small pieces;

  • crush ice;

  • quickly blend and finish the cream soups we very often eat;

  • blend ingredients and prepare sauces and pastes – prepare dressings, pates, marinades, even mayonnaise;

  • chop nuts – I hate chopping nuts by hand, it’s too much work. Using the blender makes the task easy and the nuts are always perfectly equal in size;

  • grind spices;

I use it almost every day to prepare shakes for my little ones, especially now in the summer. They love the refreshing taste of those drinks, especially in the long hot afternoons.

I use it to prepare cold drinks and cocktails as well.

I should tell you that I’ve used my blender and throughout the weaning period when I started introducing solid foods in my kids’ menu and after that, when I had to prepare food suitable for everyone in the family, including the toddlers.

I am very happy with having this appliance to help me when I need a hand to do something quickly. The most annoying thing when cooking, for me, is the chopping of all the ingredients – it is time-consuming, boring, tiring and the results are never as expected. That is why I use the blender almost every day. It helps me to do all the fine tasks in preparing the meals very easy and then all I need to do is to quickly wash the container.

For me it is no brainer – I would prefer not to annoy myself and get me in a bad mood and I would definitely prefer to finish something as quickly as possible and have more time with my loved ones then to spend all the time in the kitchen just to have a meal at the table.

I am sure everyone of you has their favourite milkshake recipe. I am presenting to you one of my kids’ favourites. This recipe I prepare in the blender, it takes no more than a minute, is full of those all important fruit so beneficial for your health and is super delicious.

Try it and don’t forget to send me your favourite milkshakes recipes or any recipe you use the blender to prepare.

Banana Milkshake Banana Milkshake

Ingredients (makes 1-2 milkshake):

  • 1 banana, sliced in rings

  • 1 cup ice

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2tbsp honey

  • 1tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 scoop vanilla or your preferred ice cream – if you want you can skip this ingredient, but the ice cream would make the shake extra creamy and scrumptious

You can add more honey or even sugar, if you prefer your milkshakes sweeter. I would prefer to taste the banana flavour.

Preparation in 2 easy steps:

  1. Crush the ice in the blender and add the banana

  2. Then put the milk, honey, vanilla extract and ice cream (if using) and blend until smooth

Pour into a tall glass and serve with a straw. Enjoy!

    Hi Ellie,
    Great verdict on this blender.
    You made me have the rush to go and purchase 1.
    Just wonder if Amazon.co.uk is the cheapest place in Earth to buy it, no?
    £19.99 seems not so high a price though.

      I am a big fan of blenders and I use one almost every day.
      I like shopping at Amazon – it’s very easy to find different products, compare them and find one in your price range. Also, Amazon delivers to home for free (most of the times).
      Hope you find what you are looking for.

    I have never owned a blender, but this product is making me want to change that. I appreciated your honest review and criticisms of the product – overall it seems like a good purchase. I’m not much of a chef, but I think this could help me. Thank you!
